Mobility and Subsistence of Prehistoric Societies in Southern Central Asia and Iran

Résumé
The thesis followed the interdisciplinary approach of natural sciences and archaeology, to investigate the mobility and subsistence of prehistoric communities settled in southern Central Asia and Iran using isotopic applications (87Sr/86Sr, δ18O, δ15N, δ13C). During the Middle and Late Bronze Age, the emergence of complex societies is observed in southern Central Asia and Iran. With the rise of the Oxus Civilization (ca. 2400-1500 BC) major social transformations led to deep cultural changes and economic shifts. The results enable the description of movements between the different regions and populations, and the reconstruction of migration routes and distances in these dynamic cultural periods. Moreover, insights on subsistence and dietary patterns, as well as possible land use and herd management were investigated.
